26 October 2016 — The Philippine Embassy in Rome held a consular outreach in Malta servicing a total of five hundred twenty-five (525) applications for renewal of passports, verification and authentication of employment contracts, and memberships in the Social Security System, Overseas Workers Welfare Fund and Pag-IBIG on October 22 to 23.
Official count places the number of Filipino workers in Malta close to 2,000, many of them are hotel and restaurant staff and professionals. Others are employed as care givers and household workers.
Consul General Adrian Bernie Candolada of the Philippine Embassy in Rome led the consular outreach mission to Malta. The activity was organized in cooperation with the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Malta. END
