26 October 2016 – The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver recently joined a tourism roadshow led by representatives from the Department of Tourism-Tourism Promotions Board (DOT-TPB), Philippine Airlines, and hotel and resort owners in Vancouver on October 15 to 17 October.

The roadshow was divided into three segments: a Millennials event on October 15; a business-to-business (B2B) networking session, and a DOT product presentation on October 17. 

The Millennials event, held at the Studio Records Bar in Granville Street, was aimed at introducing the Philippines and its tourist attractions to the Canadian market of young upwardly-mobile professionals.  During the event, attendees were invited to pose for photos in the photobooth and post their photos in social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The B2B networking session and product presentation, held at the Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver, saw the delegation entertaining queries, generating leads and establishing partnerships with BC-based travel agencies and tour operators. 

Consul General Neil Ferrer welcomed the participants following the B2B networking session.  He noted the concerted efforts of the public and private sectors in the Philippines to ensure that travelling in the country remains safe and secure for tourists and visitors.  Consul General Ferrer also highlighted the increasing people-to-people relations between the Philippines and Canada, and the strong tourism arrivals from Canada to the Philippines. Thereafter, Tourism Attaché Director Pura Molintas of DOT San Francisco held a product presentation to increase brand awareness on the Philippines.

The delegation was led by Director Molintas and Mr. Hernan Narvadez, Head of Americas Division, TPB.
