28 October 2016 — Philippine Consul General to Los Angeles Adelio Angelito Cruz attended the Opening of the Philippine Expressions Bookshop in San Pedro, California on October 14.

Philippine Expressions is a specialty bookshop initially established in Westwood, CA in 1984 to provide a home for Philippine writing in America dedicated to Filipino Americans in search of their roots.  The opening of the new location coincides with the celebration of Filipino American History Month in the United States.  In this small but cozy bookshop where Filipino Americans can find a variety of select Philippine books on history, geography, poetry, travel, WWII, children’s books, cookbooks and novels.  The event featured Mr. Faustino Caigoy, a Filipino-American, multi-disciplinary artist/muralist/poet whose concerns for the conditions and struggles of his people find expression in his poetry and art.

The opening of the bookstore was attended by 50 people from the Filipino American community and members of the press. END
