28 October 2016 — The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago conducted its 11th consular outreach for this year, and its first ever outreach in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on October 22.
The team, led by Consul General Generoso D.G. Calonge, delivered consular services to more than 70 Filipinos and Filipino-Americans in Michigan and other neighboring areas. These consular services included e-passport, notarials, civil registry and dual citizenship.
As part of the month-long celebration of the Filipino American History Month (FAHM), the Chicago PCG Team also participated in the “Filipiniana & Evening Gown Fashion Show of the Philippine Cultural Group of Michigan (PCGoM). The highlight of the PCGoM’s FAHM event included the Induction of the group’s officers who will serve from 2016 to 2018, a competition of the best Filipiniana gowns and performances of Filipino dances such as the Kapa Malong. Consul General Calonge also presented the PCGoM volunteers with certificates of appreciation for their assistance in the consular outreach which immediately preceded the FAHM celebration in Grand Rapids.
