CHIC CONG

28 October 2016 — In continuing to push for the passage of the Filipino Veterans of WWII Congressional Gold Medal Act, Consul General Generoso D.G. Calonge met with Congressman Reid Ribble of the 8th Congressional District of Wisconsin on October 21.

While Congressman Ribble had announced early this year that he would retire after his third term, he informed Consul General Calonge that he would add his signature to the 305 members of the House who already support the bill. He also shared the Consul General’s hope to see its passage during the 114th US Congress.

As a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, he further assured Consul General Calonge of his desire to come on board the US-PH Friendship Caucus and endorse the same to his successor.

On behalf of the Philippine government and Filipino Americans in Wisconsin, Consul General Calonge expressed profound appreciation and thanks to Congressman Ribble for his tremendous show of support and interest in Philippine causes and concerns and wished him continued good health and success in his future undertakings.
