02 November 2016 — In celebration of Filipino History Month and in support to the 15th Anniversary of the Philippine Opera Company (POC), the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles attended the concert “HARANA” at Alex Theater in Glendale, California on October 23. Alex Theater is a world-class performing arts and entertainment center located in Glendale, California
“Harana” was staged through the efforts of the Federation of Filipino American Associations, Inc. and The DreamAgeGroup Entertainment.
The concert was well received and appreciated by the Filipino-American community as an excellent platform to showcase our world-class talent and artistry. The timely performances were enjoyed by music-loving fellowmen in the United States.
“Harana,” a cultural arm of POC, showcased the evolution of Philippine music through song, movement and drama. The repertoire was composed of six suites; each suite is theatrically presented with authenticity, originality and visual excitement.
POC’s performance in Los Angeles at this time of the year is significant as this was held in October during the Filipino-American History Month, a celebration which recognizes the large presence and contributions of Filipinos in the United States.
It also falls during the year-long celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and the United States. END.
