17 November 2016 — The Philippine Embassy in Cairo was among the 15 countries that participated in the 12th Asian Diplomats’ Spouses Association (ADSA) Annual Food and Crafts Bazaar held at the Conrad Hotel in Cairo on November 12. More than 2,000 people attended the bazaar.

The bazaar showcased food, fabrics, and local products from the embassies of Australia , Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Palestine, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, and Vietnam, and other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Egypt.

Egyptian Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Wady opened the event together with the spouses of the Asian ambassadors in Cairo.

Proceeds from the bazaar will go to 11 different Egyptian NGOs that supports women and children.  The bazaar also aims to help reinvigorate the Egyptian handicrafts industry which is slowly vanishing due to the lack of marketing and promotion. END
