22 November 2016— Philippine Consul General to Honolulu Gina A. Jamoralin welcomed the new Consul General of the Republic of Korea to Hawaii, Mr. Young Hoon Kang, in a courtesy visit to the Philippine Consulate General on November 18.

Consul General Kang replaced Consul General Walter Paik who was recalled to his home office after a successful tour of duty. ConGen Young, as he prefers to be called, was accompanied by Deputy Consul General Sun Soo Kim.

ConGen Kang said that the Korean Government was very much impressed with Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto R. Yasay Jr. when the secretary latter met with ROK Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se in bilateral talks at the sidelines of the ASEAN foreign ministerial meeting in Vientiane, Laos on July 25.

Consul General Jamoralin assured Consul General Kang of the Philippine Consulate General’s support and cooperation, emphasizing that the Republic of Korea is a very important economic and military partner of the Philippines. END
