23 November 2016 — The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai coordination with the Canadian University of Dubai hosted an Educational Series on ADHD at the Consulate General in celebration of the Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Awareness Week on November 18.

Consul General Paul Raymund P. Cortes in his opening remarks, stressed that the Consulate General will continue to initiate programs that would spread health awareness to the Filipino community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

The event was divided into two sessions: Food, Behavior, and ADHD: Effective strategies for teaching students with educational needs and Solving the Puzzle of your ADHD child: Parenting Tips.

The forum was hosted by Dr. Rommel Sergio, Associate Professor of Canadian University Dubai and the series were conducted by Dr. Neda June Salazar, Assistant Professor, Higher Colleges of Technology and Dr. Angeline Malaya, School Psychologist, UIPS and was attended by some 100 participants who are teachers of Philippine schools and parents.

The educational series aimed to impart basic knowledge on ADHD; to help the participants identify its symptoms, to equip them in handling effective and immediate care of children with ADHD; and to help parents to better understand ADHD in case they have children with ADHD. END
