23 November 2016 — The Philippine Embassy in Athens participated in PHILOXENIA 2016, the 32nd edition of the International Tourism Exhibition every year at the Helexpo in Thessaloniki, Greece from November 18 to20.
This year’s event was attended by 403 exhibitors from 16 countries, as well as 217 hosted buyers from 34 countries. The exhibition was held back to back with Hotelia 2016, an exhibition of hotel equipment, latest trends and development in construction, renovation, decoration, and equipment for tourist facilities.
PHILOXENIA 2016 was inaugurated by the Greek Minister of Tourism, Ms. Elena Kountoura, at the Vellidis Congress Centre on November 20. Also present during the inauguration were Deputy Minister of Interior (Macedonia-Thrace), Ms Maria Kollia-Tsaroucha; Thessaloniki Mayor Yiannis Boutaris; and TIF-Helexpo President Tasos Tzikas
During PHILOXENIA 2016, the Philippine Embassy in Athens met with several travel agencies from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Egypt and Turkey, which requested meetings with the Philippine Embassy to inquire about the possibility of establishing cooperation and linkages with the Philippine tourism industry and travel operators.
