24 November 2016 – The International Charity Bazaar of the Association of Spouses of Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Malaysia (SOHOM) will take place at the Grand Ballroom of JW Marriot Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on December 07.
The event is in cooperation with the JW Marriot and the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
“SOHOM has actively participated in philanthropic endeavors while supporting and assisting different community charitable organizations. SOHOM will continue to support these institutions as ongoing part of our mission by giving back to our host community. I really do hope people join us in this charitable bazaar sharing our aim to help people in need,” said SOHOM President Madame Kim Eun Hai of Mexico.
More than 40 countries with missions based in Kuala Lumpur will showcase their culture during the event, which will feature cultural displays and performances. Noted Filipino baritone Jonathan Badon will also perform during the event’s closing ceremony.
“The Philippine Embassy has always been keen to promote understanding through culture in Malaysia. This particular bazaar is one such activity, and we are thankful to SOHOM for allowing us to take part in this worthwhile endeavor,” said Madame Rena Cristina Koa Malaya.
Embassies and high commissions are expected to showcase their products to the buying public, as well as mount cultural displays and performances during the day.
Raffle prizes donated by participating Embassies and High Commissions will also be up for grabs for lucky shoppers and participants. The bazaar is open to the public from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The SOHOM is the association of the spouses of Heads of Mission accredited to Malaysia, which aims to allow the members to be united in the experience of living in a foreign country, share passions and hobbies, be involved in charity projects, exchange information and have fun. The group meets once a month in activities geared to learn about each other’s home countries and to find out more about their host country. END
