24 November 2016 – The Philippine Embassy in Athens conducted a consular outreach in Thessaloniki, Greece on November 20. 

The consular team, headed by Ms. Sheila Marie C. Tario, Second Secretary and Consul, processed a total of 51 passport applications and other miscellaneous services. Services were also extended by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office-Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (POLO-OWWA).

The Philippine Embassy in Athens, led by its Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., Minister and Consul General Rosario P. Lemque, conducted a seminar for the Filipino Community (Filcom) in Thessaloniki, with lectures on civil registration, POLO’s Balik Manggagawa online, OWWA benefits, and human trafficking and smuggling. The seminar was held at the Park Hotel in Thessaloniki, Greece in November 20.

Mr. Rommel B. Quisao, Consular Assistant, Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) Officer and Attaché, conducted a lecture on Civil Registration, with specific emphasis on Reports of Birth (ROB), Reports of Marriage (ROM), and Reports of Death (ROD), in compliance with Proclamation No. 1106, declaring 2015-2024 as Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Decade in the Philippines.

Labor Attaché Adam A. Musa provided information to the Filipino Community on the Balik Manggawa online.

Mrs. Rosalia Susana S. Bahia-Catapang, OWWA Welfare Officer, POLO-OWWA Greece, delivered a presentation on the benefits provided by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to its members including the benefits of OWWA members who were affected by the recent Typhoon Lawin (international name: Haima).

Finally, a lecture on Human Trafficking and Human Smuggling was delivered by Ms. Sheila Marie C. Tario, Second Secretary and Consul.

A question and answer portion was held at the end of the seminar.

The consular outreach and briefing was organized and held with the kind assistance of Philippine Honorary Consul to Thessaloniki Mr. Nikolaos Margaropoulos, who also attended the event, and the Filipino community in Thessaloniki. END.
