24 November 2016 — The Philippine Consulate General in Agana conducted A mobile consular mission in Saipan from November 15 to 19.

It was the 6th and the last mobile service of the Consulate General in Saipan for the year and second time using the new APO passport system.

Led by Consul Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian the consular team was composed of Mr. Julius Checa, Ms. Juliet Simbul, for passport services, and Ms. Emerita Marquez, for civil registry/authentication and collecting officer.

Total consular and Assistance-to-Assistance (ATN) services rendered by the consular team during the four-day consular mission was seven hundred thirty-eight (738) consisting of the following: six hundred ninety-six (696) ePassport Renewal, including nine lost passports); fifteen (15) Extension of Validity of Passport; eleven (11) Authentication/Notarials; four Reports of Marriage; nine Reports of Birth; two Travel Documents and an ATN service.

The consular mission was successfully conducted with the cooperation and support of the office of Philippine Honorary Consul to the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands (CNMI) Glicerio “Eli” Arago and the volunteers from the United Filipino Organization in Saipan. 

Consul Auxilian expressed appreciation to Honorary Consul Arago and to the volunteers for arranging the venue for the mobile consular outreach as well as for their continuing support and assistance that led to the successful conduct of the service.

The Filipino community in Saipan expressed appreciation that the Consulate General is now able to use a more efficient passport system and can process more passport applications using two units of data capturing machines.

At the sidelines of the mobile outreach, Consul Auxilian also paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Ryan Jimenez, the new Bishop of the Diocese of Chalan Kanoa, Saipan who is a Filipino from Siquijor province and was appointed by Pope Francis to the position in June 2016, at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cathedral on November 18.

Likewise, Consul Auxilian and his team had the chance to meet Congressman Gregorio “Kilili” Sablan, CNMI Representative to the US Congress, at Saipan Airport on their way back to Guam on November 20.

Consul Auxilian congratulated Congressman Sablan on his reelection during the just concluded November 2016 elections in the CNMI and informed him of the mobile consular mission conducted by the Consulate General for the Filipinos in Saipan.

He also thanked Congressman Sablan for the support he extended for the Congressional Gold Medal Bill for Filipino World War II Veteran that is being scheduled for vote in the U.S. Congress. Congressman Sablan expressed appreciation to the Consulate General for the mobile passport service conducted in Saipan. END
