AGANAFYLPRO

28 November 2016 — Philippine Consul General to Agana Marciano R. de Borja hosted a breakfast send-off for Senator Dennis G. Rodriguez, Jr., Guam's first ever delegate to the Filipino-American Youth Leadership Program (FYLPRO) and Ms. Maria Teresa “Dondi” Quintans, Guam's representative for the 2016 edition of FYLPRO to be held in the Philippines from November 23 to December 02.

Over breakfast, Senator Rodriguez shared his experience during the 2012 FYLPRO, which included calls on top Philippine government officials and a chance to network with young entrepreneurs and civic leaders. He also fondly recalled their meeting with Mr. Tony Meloto, founder of Gawad Kalinga, a non-profit organization that is concerned with providing shelter for marginalized Filipinos.

Ms. Quintans, on the other hand, expressed her excitement at how the program can benefit her as a young professional and promised to share her experience with other young Filipino-Americans on Guam when she returns.

Consul General de Borja wished Dondi success on her participation in the 2016 FYLPRO and encouraged her to actively partner with the Consulate General in reaching out to the wider island community upon her return to Guam.

FYLPRO is an initiative of former Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. that is designed to tap the leadership and talent of young Filipino-Americans for contributing to the further development of the Philippines through their civic engagement and advocacy. END
