01 December 2016 — The Philippine Consulate General in Agana conducted a mobile consular mission in Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) from November 25 to 27.
Led by Consul General Marciano R. de Borja, the consular team included Mr. Julius Checa, for passport services, and Ms. Juliet S. Simbul, for civil registry and authentication. Ms. Simbul served as the collecting officer.
The total consular and Assistance-To-Nationals (ATN) services rendered by the consular team during the three-day consular mission was one hundred thirty-three (133) consisting of the following: ninety-three (93) ePassport Renewal, four Extension of validity of Passport, thirty-three (33)Authentication / Notarials, two Reports of Birth, and a Report of Marriage.
Around 350 Filipinos live and work in Chuuk. Half of the Filipinos are construction workers currently engaged in airport and road projects while some of them are employed in the health sector and retail business. Some of the Filipinos in Chuuk are small business owners.
The consular mission was successfully conducted with the cooperation and support of Mr. Dudely Jordan, President of KApatiran ng mga Pilipino sa Isla ng Truk (KAPIT) and the volunteers from the KAPIT in Chuuk.
Consul General de Borja expressed appreciation to KAPIT President Jordan and to the volunteers for arranging the venue for the mobile outreach and for their continuing support and assistance that led to the successful conduct of the service.
The Filipino community in Chuuk expressed appreciation that the Consulate General is now able to use a more efficient passport system and can process more passport applications using the new data capturing machines. END
