02 December 2016 — The Philippine Embassy in Vientiane participated in the Women’s International Group (WIG) Bazaar along with other diplomatic missions, non-governmental organizations, and international schools on November 19.

WIG is a volunteer, non-profit organization, which encourages interaction among people living in Lao PDR. WIG also spearheads projects that benefit Lao society and promotes Lao history and culture. Over the years,  WIG has assisted in funding construction of schools, and medical support for those in need of reconstructive surgery.

The WIG Bazaar is a fundraising event held annually in November. Proceeds are used to fund the WIG’s health and educational projects.

The Philippine Embassy sold native handicrafts and accessories, and even those who bought accessories from past events returned to purchase more items. END
