Honolulu24 October 2013 - In celebration of Filipino-American History Month, the Philippine Consulate General and the City and County of Honolulu hosted an Artists’ Reception for two Filipino artists from Baguio City namely Art Tibaldo and Dave Leprozo, Jr. on October 20 at the Philippine Consulate General’s “Alay sa Sakada Lanai”.

The “Filipino-American History Month” was introduced by then State Representative, now City Councilmember Joey Manahan, and, was, subsequently passed as House Bill HB 3343 HD1 in 2008.

Art Tibaldo, considered as a visual ethnographer has chronicled numerous cultural events from the upland of northern Philippines. He studied Fine Arts (Major in Painting) following the tradition of the conservative Thomasians. He also took up courses in filmmaking, video production and joined Baguio's mass media in the early eighties as a photojournalist. He currently works as a Media Specialist of the Department of trade and Industry-CAR and at the same time produces a local weekly cable television program "This is Baguio TV Show" by Cordillera News Agency-Television.

Dave Leprozo, Jr., fondly called “Kulot” is a freelance professional photographer and graphic artist

The two artists will have a series of events in Honolulu, including lectures and photo/art exhibits at the University of Hawaii-Manoa.

During the program, Consul General Julius D. Toprres delivered the welcome address for the reception’s over 80 guests. END
