05 December 2016 — Colonel Ernesto C. Torres, Jr. Philippine Army Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, G1, Philippine Army and four other officers, paid a courtesy visit on Philippine Consul General to Honolulu Gina A. Jamoralin on November 28.
The Philippine Army delegation is in Hawaii to attend the five- day Personnel Management Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) with counterparts from the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC).
The Personnel Management SMEE is one of the many bilateral defense activities and exchanges between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the United States for 2016 that was approved during the Mutual Defense Board - Security Engagement Board (MDB-SEB) meeting in January 2015.
More than harnessing the already robust defense relationship between the two Armed Forces, the activity is aimed towards exchanging ideas and learning the best practices on human resource management, from various programs, projects and activities on recruitment, retention, career management, morale and welfare, attrition and transition assistance for separating and retiring soldiers, among others.
