JAKRONDALLA05 December 2016 — The Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the London School of Public Relations (LSPR) Jakarta, successfully organized a free concert featuring the Kaisahan ng Lahi Music Ensemble, at the LSPR’s Prof. Dr. Djayusman Auditorium and Performance Hall on November 28.

The concert, entitled "Kwerdas ng Kasaysayan" (Strings of the Past), is part of the Embassy’s year-round Sentro Rizal activities.

Some 100 guests, including members of the diplomatic corps, the Filipino community, friends from the business sector and students from the LSPR were in attendance.

Kaisahan ng Lahi Music Ensemble, led by Mr. Josef Radel Lopez, is a group of talented Filipino musicians, dancers and choreographers trained to portray the complexity of Filipino culture through music and dance.  The concert showcased the unique sound of the “rondalla” – stringed instruments introduced to the Philippines by Spain many centuries ago but now widely embraced by Filipinos as their own.

The concert also featured as special guests, the LSPR Choir and the Filipino group Aksento. END
