05 December 2016 — The Philippine Consulate General in New York joins the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. and other Philippine Foreign Service Posts in the United States in welcoming the passage in the US Congress of the Filipino Veterans of World War II Congressional Gold Medal Act of 2015.

The U.S. House of Representatives approved the bill on November 30, following its earlier unanimous passage in the U.S. Senate on July 13.

The Philippine Consulate General in New York expresses its gratitude to all the supporters of the bill in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, particularly those in the U.S. Northeast. Congratulations are also in order for all the Filipino veterans advocacy groups and individuals in the Filipino-American Community for their unwavering efforts to see this dream fulfilled.

The Congressional Gold Medal is a significant recognition of the bravery, sacrifices, and contributions of Filipino veterans who fought for peace, freedom, and democracy during World War II.  END
