YANGORPH

06 December 2016 – The Philippine Embassy in Yangon, as part of its annual tradition to celebrate Christmas, visited St. Mary’s Home in Thanlyn Township to embody the season of gift-giving.

Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Alex G. Chua handed the Embassy’s modest donation for the upkeep of the home. He expressed hope that the Servite Sisters in Myanmar will continue with their advocacy in providing a home to orphans and children from conflict areas.

St. Mary’s Home, founded 30 years ago by Fr. Singa Rayar, takes care of over 120 children belonging to different ethnic races---Burmese, Arakanese, Chins, Kachins, Wa, Kaya, Karen and Indian. The home, in collaboration with Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), provides the children with technical skills to allow them to find work in the future. END
