06 December 2016 — The Philippine Embassy participated in the 49th Annual Charity Bazaar of the Women’s International Club (WIC) Jakarta at the Jakarta Convention Center held from November 30 to December 01.  

The Women’s International Club Jakarta (WIC) was founded in 1950 with a club motto “Friendship Through Understanding.”  WIC non-profit organization is known for its programs and activities to raise funds for charitable foundations. It consists of an executive committee with members including the wives of ambassadors and expatriates as the organization’s honorary members and other selected members.

Last year’s beneficiaries of WIC’s proceeds included Panti Asuhan Amal Wanita building renovations, and RSIA Ibnu Sina hospital for medical equipment for neonatal ICUs. This year’s bazaar proceeds will benefit education programs and scholarships for the less fortunate.

The Philippine booth showcased various Philippine handicrafts, including Lumban-made ladies apparel, Christmas decorations, capiz products, placemats and food items such as dried mangoes.

The event was graced by Indonesian First Lady Iriana Widodo and was participated by 53 embassies and, 215 local businesses which sold variety of items from across the globe. END
