07 December 2016 — The Federation of Filipino Organizations in Northern Germany (FFONG) held a pre-Christmas informal musical event, dubbed “A Musical Night with the FFONG,” at the Kleinen Michel Parish in Stadthausbrücken, Hamburg, Germany on December 02.
Guests were regaled with modern and classical songs performed by an interesting mix of young and seasoned performers who are based in Northern Germany. Highlights of the evening were the performances of young Filipino-Germans (FilGers) Mayumi Anne Carado (violin), Jeremy Posadas (piano), Martina Fransen (harp), and Dietrich Bungay (acoustic guitar). The special guest of the evening, Ms. Meg Meyer sang a Christmas song accompanied by veteran concert guitarist Jack Nuguid.
Guest speaker Consul Adrian Cruz of the Philippine Embassy praised the FilGer performers for their musical talent and encouraged them to continue inspiring others to serve as young musical ambassadors.
He also thanked the FFONG for their unwavering assistance in promoting the welfare and interest of Filipinos abroad even as he encouraged Filipinos residing in Northern Germany to keep watch of the various Embassy activities slated for 2017.
Consul Cruz took the occasion to urge young Filipino Germans to register as overseas voters noting that the filing of applications for registration will be from December 1, to October 31, 2018 at the Philippine Embassy in Berlin. END
