09 December 2016 – The Philippines and 20 other countries, participated in the Le Salon du Chocolat, a chocolate tasting fair at the United Nations headquarters in New York on December 06.
Twenty-one ConsulatesGeneral in New York and Permanent Missions to the United Nations participated in the fair.
Among the companies whose products were on display were Cebu-based Ralfe Gourmet Chocolates and The Chocolate Chamber represented by proprietor Raquel Choa, the award-winning Malagos Chocolate from Davao, Theo & Philo, and Sweet Seasons Chocolate-covered mangoes.
The country’s participation in the fair is part of efforts to introduce more Philippine specialty brands to the international audience.
The booth attracted some 200 guests at the fair, including personnel of the Philippine Consulate General in New York, the Philippine Mission to the United Nations, members of the diplomatic corps, media, and several chocolate company representatives.
The fair was sponsored by the Arab Ladies Club to the United Nations (ALUN) and the United Nations African Ambassadors Spouses Group (UNAASG), in celebration of the 2016 holiday season. END
