NY SIMBA 

13 December 2016 — Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Secretary Jesus Dureza joined the Filipino-American community on the third night of the Simbang Gabi sa Konsulado on December 08.

In a message to the Filipino Community after the mass, Secretary Dureza conveyed holiday greetings and gave updates on the latest positive developments in the Philippines, particularly on the peace process.

He also offered insights into the leadership style of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. He reaffirmed the Duterte Administration’s commitment to pursue peace initiatives, to win the war against the proliferation of illegal drugs, and to work for an economically progressive and resilient country.

Secretary Dureza assured the community that they will go home to a much better Philippines and he appealed to them to continue support and when called for even criticize the government in order for the new administration to continue working effectively for the people.

The third day of the Simbang Gabi, which fell on the Feast of Immaculate Conception was co-sponsored by the following Filipino-American community organizations: Mindanao State University Alumni Association;  Ilokano Association;  Handang Tumulong Foundation, Inc.; Philippine Women’s University Alumni Association;  Association of Filipino Teachers in America; Ay Borongan Association;  Federation of Biliran, Leyte and Samar Association;  and the Philippine National Bank.

Prior to the Simbang Gabi mass, Secretary Dureza briefed the officials of the Philippine Mission to the United Nations in New York and the Philippine Consulate General in New York on the latest developments in the peace process efforts of the Government. END
