20 December 2016 — The Philippine Embassy in Amman together with the Filipino community in Jordan celebrated Christmas the Philippine way during the Paskong Pinoy sa Jordan 2016 held on December 09 at Al Hussein Cultural Center.
The event was organized to share the joyous and festive spirit of the Philippine Christmas with Jordan and to culminate Post’s yearlong activities to celebrate the 40th year anniversary of Philippines-Jordan bilateral relations. It featured Christmas caroling and lantern-making contests that showcased the talent, creativity and ingenuity of Filipinos.
Four groups from different Filipino organizations in Jordan participated in Christmas carolling, while 14 Filipino organizations participated in the contest which featured parols made of recycled materials.
The following were the winners of the two contests:
Parol-making contest:
- 5th place – Filipino Overseas Workers in Amman (FOWA)
- 4th place – Philippine Guardians Brotherhood Inc - Athena
- 3rd place – Tabiscano Group
- 2nd place – Kapatiran Group
- 1st place – Noypi Ako sa Amman (NASA)
Christmas carol contest:
- 4th place – Federation of Filipino Associations in Amman (FEFAA)
- 3rd place - Federation of Filipino Associations in Amman (FEFAA)
- 2nd place – Couples for Christ
- 1st place – United Filipino Organization
Around 500 guests, most of them Filipinos, attended the event which was graced by the presence of Papal Nuncio, His Eminence Archbishop Alberto Ortega Martin. He participated in the gift-giving activity for the kids and gave a Christmas message to the whole community. END
