Sydney29 October 2013 - Mr. Marx Canoy, a Filipino-Australian sous chef in one of Sydney’s hotels, called on Consul General Anne Jalando-on Louis on October 14 to inform her that he received the Bronze Medal for his cookbook launched last year entitled, “Marx Canoy’s Food Feast: Traditional to World-Class Philippine Cuisine,” in the Cooking/Ethnic/Holiday Category of the 2013 Living Now Book Awards.

The Awards are presented by Jenkins Group of Traverse City, Michigan, USA, in recognition of books that enhance reader’s lives, bring families together, and make the world a safer, healthier place. These books cover a range of subjects from cooking and fitness to relationships and healthy living.

During his call, Mr. Canoy, who was a trained boxer before becoming a chef, informed Consul General Louis that his next book project will highlight Filipino boxers and their accomplishments as well as the Filipino dishes that have been an important part of the boxers’ diet.   

Consul General Louis congratulated Mr. Canoy for being a recipient of the 2013 Living Now Book Awards and encouraged him to continue to promote Philippine cuisine in Australia. She also wished him well in his future endeavors. END
