22 December 2016 – At the sidelines of the State Visit to Singapore of President Rodrigo R. Duterte from December 15 to 16, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Jose Ruperto Martin M. Andanar made a courtesy call on his Singaporean counterpart, Minister of Communications and Information, Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim on December 15.

During the meeting, Secretary Andanar acknowledged Singapore’s effective model in handling media affairs, which PCOO could learn from.

“I am happy to host such a training for a PCOO delegation, which would include the perspectives of the Ministry of Communications and Information and the private media in Singapore,” Minister Ibrahim said.

Secretary Andanar added that this proposed training could build upon the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two countries to enhance media collaboration in the fields of media policy and information exchange, training and human resource development, co-production and mutual exchanges.

Both officials also discussed the importance of ASEAN centrality in the field of media and communication, including putting ASEAN content in the global spotlight and exploring an ASEAN co-production agreement. END
