22 December 2016 — Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Maria Lumen B. Isleta and other Embassy personnel joined the Filipino Community’s Fundraising Christmas Concert in Surabaya, Indonesia on December 03. Honorary Consul Eddy Surohadi also attended the joyous occasion.

In her remarks, Ambassador Isleta commended FILCOMIN’s head in Surabaya, Mr. Ed Fuentes, and its officers for rendering valuable assistance to the Embassy. She also apprised the Filipino community of the Philippine Embassy’s programs and activities for the year 2016.  Ambassador Isleta also thanked the group for taking part in the fundraising drive for the families of fallen police officers and soldiers.

The Christmas gathering in Surabaya shared the Filipinos’ rich cultural heritage in the merry season of thanksgiving and togetherness. The Christmas dinner also showcased various talents of Filipinos with raffle draws and games.  

The Filipino Community group in Surabaya is comprised of more than 200 Filipinos who are mostly engaged in the teaching and management profession.

The Embassy team also provided consular services for the Filipino community members in Surabaya on the sidelines of the party as part of its outreach activities. END
