03 January 2017 — The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles, led by Consul General Adelio Angelito S. Cruz, turned over a check amounting to US$5, 000.00 to the Pilipino Worker’s Center (PWC) at the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles on December 15, as token reimbursement for their efforts in assisting Filipino nationals in distress in Los Angeles. 

Ms. Lolita Lledo, Associate Director of PWC received the check on behalf of the Center in the presence of Deputy Consul General Ambrocio Brian Enciso, Vice Consul Dyan Kristine M. Pastrana, Ms. Malou Villacisneros, Ian Kamus, Myrla Baldonado, Tess Sattar, Amelia Barnachea, Carmen Lee and Celestina Magallon.

PWC is one of the Consulate’s key partners in its work on Assistance to Nationals (ATN). It is a non-profit community organization which assists Filipino workers in labor matters, particularly Filipinos working in the caregiver and home care industry.

During the meeting, PWC discussed its ongoing projects. PWC also identified the EMPLEO Pinoy Program, manning the hotline 1-877-TULONG1, as a crucial component in addressing the concerns of overseas Filipinos.

The EMPLEO Pinoy program is one of the projects being undertaken by the Center in partnership with the Consulate General, U.S. federal agencies and other non-government organizations.

The Philippine Consulate General aims to strengthen its partnership with PWC in providing much-needed assistance to Filipino nationals in Los Angeles especially OFWs in distress.  END
