03 January 2017 — Philippine Consul General to Dubai and the Northern Emirates briefed Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on the issues and concerns of overseas Filipinos in Dubai, the status of pending cases faced by distressed overseas Filipinos, and the existing rules and regulations on immigration of the United Arab Emirates during the senator’s visit to Dubai on December 27.

Senator Gatchalian toured the Consulate General and witnessed the volume of consular processes such as passport processing, notarials and authentication procedures, visa processing, passport encoding, Overseas Voters registration, and Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) transactions.

The senator also visited the wards currently housed at the POLO – Migrant Worker and Other Overseas Filipino Resource Center.

After his visit at the Consulate General, the senator met with around 70 Filipino Community leaders and members of the media at the Dusit Thani Hotel.

The three-hour meeting served as an avenue for the Filipino community and the local media partners to engage the senator on the status of his pending bills, his plans and priorities for the overseas Filipinos in the U.A.E., as well as other important issues tackled by the Philippine government.

The senator ended the forum by reiterating his offer to be the Filipinos Community’s conduit to the Senate. END
