03 January 2017 —Chargé d’Affaires Mardomel Celo D. Melicor led the officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Tripoli, Libya, in the commemoration of the 120th Rizal Day with a flag raising ceremony at the Philippine Embassy in Tripoli.
In his remarks, Chargé d’Affaires Melicor praised the virtues of the late Dr. Jose P. Rizal, whose life, work, and writings inspired the Philippine independence movement in the late 1890s and early 1900s.
Chargé d’Affaires Melicor urged his fellow public servants to follow Rizal's example by pursuing continuous education, learning new languages and skills, and inspiring others. He encouraged all Filipinos to heed the call of President Rodrigo Duterte to emulate Rizal by being actively involved in bringing about genuine change and rapid growth in the Philippines. END
