03 January 2017 — The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu together with the Knights of Rizal (KOR) Hawaii USA Chapter, commemorated the 120th Anniversary of the martyrdom of Philippine National Hero of Dr. Jose Rizal at the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu on December 29, 2016.
In his remarks, Consul Roberto T. Bernardo looked back on the life of Rizal and spoke of the Philippine national hero’s relevance today. He urged the audience to follow Rizal’s example and to remember the contributions of the national hero to Filipinos.
Sir Danny Villaruz, Deputy Commander of KOR Hawaii USA Area Commander, also delivered his remarks. He said that Rizal’s life is a constant reminder to all to fulfill one’s duties to the Philippines and to lead in creating a better tomorrow for future generations.
Consul Bernardo and Sir Villaruz led the offering of flower garlands on the bust of Rizal during the occasion. END
