04 January 2017 - The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam commemorated the 120th anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal at the Embassy grounds on December 30, 2016.
Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Meynardo L.B. Montealegre led the wreath-laying ceremony.
The Ambassador highlighted Dr. Rizal’s accomplishments and encouraged everyone to draw inspiration from the deeds of the national hero to further foster the Filipino’s love of country and fellowmen.
Ambassador Montealegre also lauded the inauguration of the Sentro Rizal at the Chancery on November 28, 2016.
He said that the Sentro will be the Embassy’s arm in promoting Philippine arts, culture, and language not only to children of overseas Filipinos in the country, but also among Bruneians and other nationalities in Brunei Darussalam. END
