04 January 2017 – Twenty-seven overseas Filipinos, including two minors, spent the New Year with their loved ones back in the Philippines after the Philippine Embassy in Beirut, through the Assistance-to-Nationals Section, Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), facilitated their repatriation on December 30, 2016.

The repatriation was conducted in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Office of Migrant Workers Affairs.  The operation was also made possible through the cooperation between the Embassy and the Directorate General of the General Security (Immigration Agency) of the Republic of Lebanon, which issued exit clearances for the OFWs and the two minors.

Among the repatriated Filipinos were 15 wards sheltered in the Embassy’s Migrant Workers and other Filipinos Resource Center (MWFRC) and two wards of the Caritas Lebanon Migrants Center.  The said individuals availed of the Assistance-to-Nationals Fund.

OWWA’s Repatriation and Assistance Division (RAD) assisted the repatriated Filipinos upon their arrival in Manila on December 31, 2016 via Kuwait Airways flight number KU 417. END
