04 January 2017 — Over 25 Filipino youth and other members of the Filipino Community gathered at the Philippine Embassy in Rome to commemorate the martyrdom of Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal at the Sentro Rizal Rome on December 29, 2016.

Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco led the wreath laying at the bust of Rizal during the commemoration.

“The life, death, and works of Dr. Jose Rizal were some of the key drivers of the Philippine revolution and independence. With the screening of Bayaning Third World, I hope that you learn about the relevance of Dr. Rizal to our nation and Filipino identity,” said Ambassador Nolasco.

The Ambassador encouraged the Filipino youth to explore the collection of books and multimedia at the Sentro Rizal as a way for them to learn more about Filipino culture, history, and heritage.

The Philippine Embassy in Rome also organized a film screening of “Bayaning Third World.” END
