30 October 2013 – The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles hosted a Philippine American History/Heritage Night at the Rizal Hall on October 24 in honor of the Filipino-American History Month.
This event was organized by the Consulate General in coordination with the Philippine Heritage International Institute (PHII), Philippine Institute of Language, Arts and Culture (PILAC) and We Are One Filipino (WAOF).
The program for the Philippine American History/Heritage Night included an audio-visual presentation of the history of Filipino-Americans, song numbers from Sam Concepcion and Ms. Janine De Los Reyes, and dances from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, performanced by Mr. Joel Jacinto’s “Kayamanan ng Lahi - Philippine Folk Arts”, the new FACLA Cultural Song & Dance Group and the “Ranun sa Maranao” dance group of the Maranaos in America for Peace, Integration and Advancement (MAPIA).
