16 January 2017 – Philippine Ambassador to the United Kingdom Evan P. Garcia paid a farewell call on Parliamentary Undersecretary of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, The Rt. Hon. Alok Sharma, MP, on January 12. Mr. Sharma is also Minister for Asia and the Pacific.

Both Ambassador Garcia and Minister Sharma reaffirmed the strong bilateral relations between the Philippines and the United Kingdom.

They stressed that the exchange of high-level visits between the two countries must be continued.

Minister Sharma recalled his recent visit to Manila, which he described as being productive. He met with various government officials and businessmen during the said visit.

Both Ambassador Garcia and Minister Sharma committed to strengthen commercial relations between the Philippines and the United Kingdom.

The UK is an important trade partner and investment source for the Philippines and is home to some 200,000 Filipino migrants. END
