17 January 2017 – The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver recently teamed up with GoWay Travel on a Philippine tourism roadshow presentation at the Steamworks Brew Pub in Vancouver on January 12 to raise awareness and to educate Canadian consumers and travel trade stakeholders on the highlights of traveling to the Philippines.
Consul General Neil Ferrer, in his welcome remarks, informed the audience of the recent accolade received by the Philippines from Conde Nast Traveler (CNT), a world-renowned travel magazine.
In its current report on “Best Islands in the World: Readers’ Choice Awards for 2016,” three Philippine tourist spots ranked in the top 5: Cebu at No. 5; Palawan at No. 2 and Boracay occupying the most coveted top spot. This is the second year in a row for these destinations to be recognized by CNT.
Consul General Ferrer also shared with the audience, composed of travel agents and tour operators, the Winter Escapade project, the annual tourism initiative of PH Team Canada. He invited the audience to explore joining the 5th Winter Escapade in 2018 to enable them to appreciate the various destination offerings in PH.
During the roadshow, Consul General Ferrer noted the concerted efforts of the public and private sectors in the Philippines to ensure that travelling in the country remains safe and secure for tourists and visitors.
The Consul General also highlighted the increasing people-to-people relations between the Philippines and Canada and the strong tourism arrivals from Canada to the Philippines. He encouraged the readers of Pax News to consider the Philippines in their future travel plans.
