24 January 2017- Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Alex G. Chua called on Yangon Mayor U Maung Maung Soe on January 20 at the Yangon City Hall.

Ambassador Chua expressed confidence that the signing of the Sister City Agreement between Quezon City and Yangon Region will further bilateral relations. The signing of the agreement is both timely and meaningful, he added. It is the first twinning agreement of Myanmar with a city in the Philippines.

Yangon Mayor U Maung Maung Soe looked forward to visiting the Philippines to sign the Sister Agreement with Quezon City. He believes that the agreement will strengthen bilateral relations through meaningful people-to-people exchanges and better trade relations, he added.

Yangon Mayor U Maung Maung Soe will visit the Philippines, on the first week of February 2017, to sign a Sister City Agreement with Quezon City Mayor Herbert C. Bautista. The signing of Myanmar’s first twinning agreement with the Philippines coincides with the Philippine chairmanship of ASEAN this year. END
