15 February 2017 NEW YORK — Senator Alan Peter Cayetano held a town hall meeting with members of the Filipino American Community in New York at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center.

The Philippine Consulate General in New York organized the event.

Senator Cayetano, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, engaged the audience on various topics like the war on drugs, alleged cases of extra-judicial killings, bilateral relations of the Philippines with the US, China, and ASEAN countries. He also discussed recent developments in the Philippines since the term of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte started.

Before the town hall meeting, Senator Cayetano met with members of the Fil-Am media. Senator Cayetano was in the United States to attend the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington D.C., which was highlighted by an address by President Donald Trump.  In New York, the Senator also met with think-tanks and the business community to promote the Philippines.
