24 February 2017 - Forty-four Filipino engineers in Bahrain, Kuwait and the Eastern Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were recognized as ASEAN Engineers by the Philippine Technological Council – Middle East and North Africa Affairs (PTC-MENA) in special conferment ceremonies in Manama, Bahrain on February 17.

The conferment is a step towards attaining full status and recognition of engineering professionals to practice and work in the entire ASEAN region.

Engineer Federico A. Monsada, President of the Philippine Technological Council (PTC) and Engineer Romulo R. Agatep, Director-International Affairs, PTC and ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organization (AFEO) Country Registrar-Philippines led the awarding of the certificates and medals to the conferees which included 38 Civil Engineers, five Electronic and Communications Engineers, and an Electrical Engineer.

Philippine Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain Alfonso A. Ver urged the Filipino professionals to continuously challenge themselves and maintain their competitive edge needed in the rapidly changing world. He reiterated the Embassy’s efforts to support the Filipino professionals in Bahrain in efforts towards becoming ASEAN Engineer beginning with the orientation programs, seminars on how to complete and submit their applications and examinations and interviews by the PTC. 

The conferees are members of four engineering professional organizations, namely: PICE Bahrain Chapter, Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers Eastern Province Saudi Arabia Chapter (PICE-EPSA), Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines Bahrain Chapter (IECEP-Bahrain), and Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers – Kuwait Chapter (IIEE-Kuwait).
