22 February 2017 YAKUTSK, EASTERN RUSSIA – Vice Consul Jeffrey Valdez of the Philippine Embassy in Moscow traveled to Yakutsk in Easter Russia to attend to the case of an injured Overseas Filipino Worker.  He also met with the members of the Filipino Community in Yakutsk.

The Don Bosco Catholic Church hosted the meeting. Vice Consul Valdez updated the Filipino Community of the status of their injured colleague and addressed individual consular inquiries.

There are an estimated 40 to 50 Filipinos in Yakutsk. They are mostly women working as household service workers in the capital of Russia’s Sakha Republic near the Arctic Circle. END
