29 February 2017 – The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto kicked off its celebration of 2017 National Women’s Month during its flag ceremony at the Consulate General reception area.

Deputy Consul General and Acting Head of Post Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez led the celebration.   Officers and staff of the Consulate General, Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), and Social Security System (SSS), and some members of the Filipino community participated in the event.

During the celebration, the Consulate General cited the implementation of Magna Carta of Women (Republic Act 9710) captured through the theme, “We Make Change Work for Women.”  The theme highlights the partnership of men and women in achieving the common aspiration of economic, social, cultural, and political development in the country.
