Paris Co Chair

02 March 2017 PARIS – The Philippines continues its mandate as Co-Chair of UNESCO’s Working Group on Governance.

Over a hundred Member States attended the meeting and discussed how to optimize and harmonize the procedures and working methods of UNESCO’s intergovernmental councils and committees such as the International Hydrographical Programme Intergovernmental Council, the Man and Biosphere International Coordinating Council, the Management of Social Transformations Programme Intergovernmental Council, the Intergovernmental Council of the International Programme for the Development of Communication, the Headquarters Committee and the International Oceanographic Commission.

The Philippines, together with Hungary, were designated as co-chairs and are tasked to collate recommendations on enhancing the governance of international and intergovernmental bodies of UNESCO which will be submitted to the 39th session of the UNESCO General Conference in November this year. END
