Abu Dhabi UAE summit

03 March 2017 DUBAI — Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Constancio R. Vingno, Jr. attended the opening day of the 5th World Government Summit (WGS) at Madinat, Jumeirah, Dubai, U.A.E. on February 12.

More than 4,000 participants representing 139 countries gathered at the two-day annual summit.  The said summit is under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Among the notable speakers during the three-day event included H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe; United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres; World Bank President Jim Yong Kim; Tesla CEO and SpaceX Founder Elon Musk; and U.A.E. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H.H. Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

WGS 2017 demonstrated UAE’s leading position as a global platform for disseminating, discussing, reflecting, confronting and seeking solutions on the world’s most prominent issues. It is a hub for knowledge exchange as it opens windows of opportunity to promote out-of-the-box thinking on policy matters and ensure peoples’ well-being. END
