03 March 2017 LOS ANGELES — Officials of the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles attended the 6th Annual Charity Ball and Mabuhay Awards of the National Alliance of Filipino-Americans (NAFA), Inc at Rancho Mirage, California on 11 February 2017.

NAFA, Inc. is a non-profit organization that upholds the empowerment of Filipino-American through education, self-help and community awareness.  It is run by volunteers and funded with donations from individuals and private as well as public entities. 

This year’s theme “For the Love of Service, Community and Culture” – is what inspires the officers, board members, volunteers, supporter and partners to accomplish NAFA’s mission to engage in consciousness-raising activities and inspiring programs to maximize opportunities for, by and among Filipino Americans.

NAFA’s tradition of service, both to Americans and Filipinos alike solidly contribute not only to the welfare and society of America, but also to the government’s efforts in Philippine nation-building, social transformation and development.

In its seventh year now, the Medical Outreach program of NAFA has provided the community with 271 Saturday clinics; free health screenings, discounted prescriptions, flu shots, mobile blood drive, in partnership with LifeStream, and access to some dire laboratory services.

Currently, they are planning to conduct their second medical and dental outreach services to underserved areas in the Philippines in 2018.

NAFA has been at the forefront of promoting the distinct talents and exemplary contributions of outstanding Filipinos in Southern California. Through its annual “Mabuhay Awards” program, NAFFA inspires our Kababayans to ever strive for excellence in their respective fields of endeavor.  The program also encourages giving back to the community as Filipino-Americans who contribute to the betterment of their motherland, the Philippines as well as to mainstream American society.

Beside from the awarding ceremony, the program also included an Installation of newly elected Officers and Board of Directors of NAFA, Inc. which was inducted by Deputy Consul General Ambrosio Brian F. Enciso, III.

“Their selfless dedication and service to the general welfare of the Filipino community and mainstream American society invariably enhance the prestige of the Filipino people in their adopted country,” Said Deputy Consul General Enciso as he congratulated the distinguished awardees.

He also encouraged the new leadership to preserve its community outreach and advocacy for medical and health care. 

“The Philippine Consulate General remains your partner in molding vibrant leaders for the Filipino Community, especially the second generation Filipino-American whose youth and dynamism must be tapped to energize the community and bring in new and novel ideas that will increase the awareness and respect for our community and our people,” stated Deputy Consul General Enciso reaffirming the support of the Philippine Consulate General in NAFA’s endeavors END
