07 March 2017 MISSOURI — Philippine Consul General to Chicago Generoso D.G. Calonge emphasized the Philippines’ longstanding relations with the US during a regular session of the Missouri House of Representatives in Jefferson City on February 23.

Consul General Calonge highlighted the Philippines and US’ shared history, values, and principles.  He also mentioned the passage of the Filipino Veterans Congressional Gold Medal Act of 2015.

During his discussion, Consul General Calonge talked about the Philippines’ economic growth and the outcomes of the many reforms in governance over the recent years.  He also highlighted the significant role that more than 21,000 Filipino Americans play as residents of Missouri.

Lieutenant Governor Michael L. Parson received Consul General Calonge during the event together with Secretary of State John R. Ashcroft, Senate President Pro Tempore Ron Richard, House Majority Floor Leader Mike Cierpiot, Majority Whip Steve Lynch and other state officials. END
