07 March 2017 WISCONSIN — Philippine Consul General to Chicago Generoso D.G. Calonge recently met with Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker at the State Capitol in Madison to strengthen the ties between the Philippines and the U.S. Midwest.
The two officials shared views and experiences in US-Philippines’ bilateral relations as well as regional and global security issues. Consul General Calonge invited Governor Walker to consider a visit to the Philippines in the future to further strengthen economic and people-to-people ties.
The Philippines is the 18th biggest source of imports to Wisconsin and the 23rd biggest market for Wisconsin exports in 2015.
Wisconsin, also known as “America’s Dairyland,” is the 20th most populous state and the 23rd largest state in terms of land area. It is home to a growing community of more than 13,000 Filipino Americans and boasts of ten Fortune 500 companies, including Johnson Controls, Oshkosh, and Harley Davidson. END
