07 March 2017 CHICAGO — Philippine Consul General to Chicago Generoso D. G. Calonge and Indonesian Consul General Rosmalawati Chalid discussed the recent developments affecting immigrants in the U.S. as well as the activities both the Philippine and Indonesian missions can undertake to appropriately mark the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago.

The ASEAN Secretariat General is based in Jakarta, Indonesia while the Philippines, as the current Chair of the ASEAN Standing Committee, will be hosting a number of high-level meetings including the leaders’ summit with ASEAN dialogue partners Australia, Canada, China, EU, India, Japan, Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Russia and U.S.

The two officials agreed to work closely on issues of mutual concern and promote greater awareness on ASEAN among their respective communities and more so in Chicago. END
